Time For Ceramic Veneers

TIME FOR CERAMIC VENEERS

How we establish our appearance, inspire the way we smile and influence our self-esteem. It can also impinge our mood and how we proceed or hesitate in our social and business relationships.

What is it about an attractive smile that daze people in the way that it does? Men and women alike, concede having good oral hygiene a compelling and momentous quality. Smiles are the most imminent way to make an impression. It is a display of confidence, assurance, boldness, certainty or determination. We all agree that asking a luminary out on a date can be a very difficult task if not impossible, if you flash a mouthful of abhorrent, ghastly set of teeth. A nice healthy smile can be easily realized with cosmetic dentistry.

A simple process of  having your teeth professionally cleaned or whitened, is the most simple and common solution, or having porcelain veneers or crowns applied to your teeth, will reassure you that nice, healthy, inviting smile.

The most common conditions that have the most impugning impact on your smile, include broken cracked or worn teeth, discolored teeth, missing teeth and/or “gummy smile.” Each patient and each specific case must be evaluated on its own merits. Factors such as occlusion (bite), oral habits, available space, health of the gum tissue, severity of the problem and patient preference must be taken into consideration while planning your cosmetic makeover.

Bonding teeth with resin composites has its advantages, however, the resin materials are not as long lasting as the ceramic components. Porcelain will not darken or wear, like acrylic resins might, over a period of time, resist stains to a greater degree and mimic the light reflecting properties of natural teeth a lot better.

If there are cracks, chips or discolorations in your composite restorations, they need to be redone and replaced with ceramic restorations. When full coverage is not needed, porcelain veneers that are bonded to the teeth are less invasive than ceramic crowns that necessitate the removal of greater amounts of tooth structure. Some people choose to have a combination of porcelain veneers along with a bleaching (tooth whitening) procedure for the other teeth.

Dental veneers do not need any special attention or require any extra additional care. As long as you continue to follow good oral hygiene practices, including brushing and flossing as you normally would, you should be able to enjoy the full benefits and maximum life expectancy of your porcelain veneers. Call our office if you think you are a candidate for this type of procedure.
