Dr. Mary Afzali

Dr. Afzali DDS, graduating with high honors, received her dental degree from University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1991.

UMKC is known for being one of the frontiers in the field of dental research and education.

After practicing as an associate dentist for two years in San Diego, Dr. Afzali established her own private practice in the community of Rancho Bernardo in 1993. The practice grew rapidly due to the commitment of Dr. Afzali and her caring staff towards the patients.

Compassion for the art of dentistry as well as relentless commitment to providing the best possible care for her patients, have contributed to establishing Dr. Afzali as one of the most prominent members of the dental profession.

Dr. Afzali, is constantly seeking continuing education to provide all the latest advancements in the field. She frequently attends study clubs, and various seminars focusing primarily on cosmetic, implant, and sedation dentistry.  

Dr. James Sanford

Dr. Sanford is a native of Champaign, Illinois. He attended De Pauw University Greencastle Indiana, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Economics.

Dr. Sanford completed dental school in Chicago at the University of Illinois, receiving the distinguished Luz B. Bondoc Award for attaining the highest combined score on the National Boards given that year for Northwestern, Loyola, and the University of Illinois Dental Schools.

After graduating in June 1975, Dr. Sanford was commissioned in the United States Navy and served two years at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, at which time he rotated through specialty positioning in oral surgery and endodontics.

Dr. Sanford has many interests including environmental, charitable, and political organizations both on a local and national level. Activities Dr. Sanford enjoys include swimming, wind and body surfing, and most any other athletic in or out of the water when he is not peering into someone's mouth.
